Born in Ontario, Reade Baker saddled his first winner in 1989 and has since won over 1k races. He grew up on a dairy farm and at age eighteen got a job as a groom before learning how to gallop horses. He then became a jockey agent for Gary Stahlbaum, one of the leading riders in Canada in the 1980s.

In 1985 Baker became racing manager for Rick Kennedy and traveled the world learning about horsemanship in different countries. He then became a trainer and opened a public racing stable in 1990.

He’s been amongst the top trainers in Canada for many years. In 2005 he was named  outstanding trainer at the Sovereign Awards, has trained two Horses of the Year, and in 2016 was named on the ballot for the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame.

In his free time, Reade enjoys showing chickens and ducks.
