All Star Frank broke his maiden in front running style on September 14th at Belmont. Breaking from post #3, All Star Frank broke alertly and quickly went up to contest the lead on the inside. All Star Frank was pressed hard throughout the early stages of the race setting fractions of 22.3 for the quarter and 45.4 for the half. However, jockey Javier Castellano had a nice hold of All Star Frank, and All Star Frank was looking relaxed on the inside. With about three furlongs to go, All Star Frank was actually headed and surrendered the lead, but Castellano gave Frank a little more reign and Frank immediately poked his head back out in front. The other speed began backing up through the field, but a new challenge came from a closer who moved from the back of the field into second at the head of the stretch. As the field straightened away in the lane, Castellano shook up Frank and he responded opening up a clear lead again and maintained sway throughout the lane while under a drive. All Star Frank earned $27,000 for the victory, and covered the seven furlong distance in a solid 1:24.3.
