ETHAN MAN RUNS IN BREEDERS' CUP SPRINT

October 28, 2003 · By · Share

Ethan Man, a four-year-old son of Glitterman, became West Point Thoroughbreds first Breeders' Cup starter by running in the Breeders' Cup Sprint(G1) on October 25th at Santa Anita.  Ethan Man, who last year won the Swale Stakes(G3) and was a contender on the road to the Triple Crown, was making only his third start after a sixteen month layoff.

In 2002, Ethan Man suffered a strained suspensory ligament.  He required a significant time off but we were patient with him, and trainer Pat Byrne did a tremendous job in getting him back to the racetrack.  Ethan Man returned to the races in August scoring an allowance victory at Arlington Park and then ran a huge second in the Phoenix Breeders' Cup(G3) at Keeneland.  Ethan Man recorded a career best 111 Beyer in the race.  Ethan Man will need some time off, but the journeyin  getting the Breeders' Cup was a thrilling ride and only makes us hungrier to getback and get the job done next time.
