CRIMSON STAG VOTED LA BRED 2YO CHAMPION

February 25, 2005 · By · Share

West Point's three-year-old Crimson Stag, was named the champion two-year-old of 2004 by the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association.  The honor is the statebred equivalent of the Eclipse Award.  Crimson Stag broke his maiden in a MSW at Saratoga in only his second career start, and the son of Glitterman has now won three consecutive stakes races and earnings of over $222,000 from only eight career starts.

West Point President Terry Finley said, "This is a neat colt.  We picked him up at the Fasig Tipton Texas sale, and when he broke his maiden at Saratoga I asked Dallas Stewart how many Louisiana breds he knew of that broke their maiden there.  We knew we had a pretty nice colt, and they're really putting on a nice program of Louisiana bred races right now.  It's a nice honor for his accomplishments to be recognized.  It's a long year, but we got a good start to trying to win again as a three-year-old with a couple stakes wins already.  We had so much luck that we went ahead and purchased another two-year-old Louisiana bred this year."
