BID FOR SILVER WINS AGAIN!

October 01, 2005 · By · Share

Bid For Silver won again, scoring in a hand ride in the 20k non-winners of three lifetime claimer on September 30th at Woodbine.  Breaking from the rail, no speed presented itself, so jockey Corey Fraser wisely placed Bid For Silver on the lead through soft fractions of 24 flat for the quarter and 48.4 for the half-mile.  He had a nice loose hold of her as she continued to gallop along on the lead.  Bid For Silver shook free by two lengths after six furlongs in 1:13.4.  She put away her pace challenger on the turn as another filly tried to make a run at her, but Fraser continued to ride confidently.  He let her go in the stretch, and she drew away from the rest of the field catching the mile in 1:39.1 and the final distance in 1:45.3.  Her final margin of victory was five and a half lengths. Corey Fraser said, "That worked out perfectly.  She broke well and nobody came after us.  She got on the lead, and she relaxed perfectly.  I didn't have to use her up, and I had a lot of horse at the end." Nancy Triola said, "The filly has put on some weight over the last few weeks.  Her spirits are really good, and she really seems to enjoy the cold weather.  I loved the way she was coming into the race.  She's really relaxed and happy right now.  We got away with pretty soft fractions, and they weren't going to catch her.  The kid never even had to uncock his stick.  She came back after the race with her ears pricked, and was feeling real good."<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Bid For Silver is enjoying Woodbine earning her second straight win over that surface.  It is her third win in ten starts in 2005.  She earned $13,987 for her effort and $61,212 for her career.  It is nice to see her running with such confidence.
