PSYCHOTIC REACTION WINS!!!

January 22, 2006 · By · Share
Psychotic Reaction scored a dominating wire to wire victory in the NY Bred "a other than" allowance on January 21st at Aqueduct. Under a savvy ride by Mike Luzzi, Psychotic Reaction was hustled from the gate to set a modest pace in 24 flat and 48.1 while getting token pressure.  A firing line setup behind Psychotic Reaction as they tried to take a run at him on the turn for home, but Luzzi had metered out his speed very well, and when they hit the top of the stretch he opened up with ease on the them.  Psychotic Reaction did shift in a little bit at about the eighth pole while switching leads, but he continued to draw off to the wire with authority.

Mike Luzzi said, "It didn't look like there was as much speed today.  We got out to the lead pretty easy, and we were able to set a little softer pace.  He goes along pretty easy, and I wanted to keep him as relaxed as possible.  When I asked him to run he gave me everything I wanted.  I kept after him a little bit to get him to change leads, and when he did he just kept on going.  He ran really well."

Rick Violette's assistant Rusty said, "I told Mike to ride him with confidence.  He rode him like the best horse in the race, and when you have the best horse it's never bad to be in front.  We got pretty honest fractions, but he was going along really easily.  Mike kept a nice hold on him, and when he gave him his head he just took off.  He was a little green in the stretch, but this was only his fourth start.  Hopefully we'll keep him moving forward.  This was a really nice race, and he's a talented horse.  We'll have a lot of fun with him."

This was Psychotic Reations second win in four tries.  He earned $26,400 for his effort bringing his career earning up to $68,400.
