FLASHY BULL PREPARES FOR KENTUCKY DERBY #3

April 28, 2006 · By · Share

Flashy Bull shipped from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Lexington to Churchill Down on April 28 and has settled in nicely. Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin intends to breeze Flashy Bull in company with Jazil on Saturday, April 29th. This change in plan is due to the forecast for rain on Sunday.

Kiaran has secured the services of Mike Smith, the winner of last year's Derby on Giacomo, to ride Flashy Bull in the Derby. "We just thought it was a great fit for Mike to ride a gray son of Holy Bull if we get in," said Kiaran. Smith was also the regular rider of Holy Bull, the 1994 Horse of the Year.

This is yet another similarity to Giacomo. He was also a gray son of Holy Bull sporting several close placing but only one win heading into the Derby. We would love to recapture the magic again and write a new chapter of racing lore.
