Yolanda B. Too to run in Personal Ensign (G1)

August 24, 2006 · By · Share

Yolanda B. Too is set to run in the $400,000 Personal Ensign (G1) on August 25th at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Saratoga.  She drew the #2 post out of 5 with Garrett Gomez aboard for the trip. One reason that the race came up small was because of the presence of Fleet Indian.  She really has been dominating since being switched to Todd Pletcher's barn. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Yolanda B. Too, who has won 2 of 3 starts this year, figures to be the one closest to Fleet Indian in the early stages of the Personal Ensign. Her trainer, Rick Violette, said he is not looking to get in a duel with Fleet Indian and set it up for Balletto, Soul Search, or India Halo.

"I don't think anybody can beat [Fleet Indian], but you're not supposed to not go in a race because of one horse,'' said Violette, who was thinking of running Yolanda B. Too in Sunday's Grade 1 Ballerina. "We'll probably track her without committing suicide. We're not in there to set it up for anybody. If Todd's filly isn't up to her 'A' game we'll see what happens.''

Yolanda B. Too ran a game second in her last race, the Ashado Stakes, to 2005 Kentucky Oaks winner Summerly.  Yolanda has a career record of 4-3-1 in nine starts and earnings of $220,890.  It should be a very exciting race and another opportunity for Yolanda to compete against some of the best fillies and mares in the country.
