Safety Martial scored his second consecutive victory while stepping up in class on February 27th at Philadelphia Park. He broke well and was eased back into a close up third position on the inside early. Safety Martial was then eased out down the backstretch and remained in a stalking position a little less than two-lengths back through a half-mile. Jockey Rodrigo Madrigal, Jr. let Safety Martial go heading into the turn while traveling three wide. Safety Martial assumed command on the far turn and held sway through the stretch to win by nearly two-lengths.
Lupe Preciado said, "He ran a nice race. The jockey did a nice job taking him back off those two horses that went hard. He got him out in the clear, and when he asked him he went. You have to keep after this horse a little bit, but he kept running today. He was training as well as he ever had, and he ran another good race."
Safety Martial earned $13,200 for his effort today bringing his career total to $65,110.
