March 03, 2007 · By · ShareMr. Component made his return to the starting gate on March 3rd a winning one as he stalked the pace early then made a decisive move on the turn drawing even with the pacesetter before edging away in the stretch to a two and a half length score. Mr. Component's trip was an eventful one as he broke outwardly at the start and was then banged hard shortly after the break. That caused Mr. Component to be awkward in finding his stride, but once he found his rhythm he moved up smartly on the outside. While being forced four or five wide the entire way, he still had plenty left in the tank to draw away in the stretch.
Kiaran's assistant Artie said, "When Kiaran and I talked earlier this week we decided to go ahead an run this weekend because the horse was doing so well. We knew he was pretty fit, but it's sometimes it's hard to gauge off a layoff. He didn't have an easy trip today. He was wide the whole way, and that's not where you want to be on the inner track. He was just much the best, and Alan Garcia gave him a very confident ride."
Mr Component earned $25,800 for his win. We'll look to step up into the NY Bred "two other than" next time out.
