Defrereoftheheart continued West Point Thoroughbreds' recent success as he rang in the Belmont Fall meet with an authoritative win this afternoon. Defrereoftheheart demonstrated his affinity for the seven furlong distance by romping in a New York-bred a-other than allowance race. He broke alertly and ran close to the pace down the backstretch. He had an outside trip racing three wide on the turn, but he was much the best in today's heat. Once the field turned for home, Defrereoftheheart took over the lead and never looked back.
Kiaran's assistant Artie Magnuson said, "We knew this horse would love the seven furlong distance today. He always tries hard and is the utmost professional out there." Jockey Eibar Coa added, "I rode my horse like he was the best in the race. He took care of the rest for me."
Defrereoftheheart earned $29,400 for his effort bringing his career earnings to $86,700.
