Irish Smoke entered in Alcibiades(G1)

October 04, 2007 · By · Share

Irish Smoke our undefeated Grade 1 winning daughter of Smoke Glacken is the favorite in the $500,000 Darley Alcibiades Stakes at Keeneland.  Irish Smoke enters the Alcibiades off of a romp in the Grade 1 Spinaway at Saratoga.  Irish Smoke, who will make her first start around two-turns in the Alcibiades, drew post four of thirteen for the race.  Regular pilot Julien Leparoux will be back in the irons once again for the Alcibiades.

West Point Thoroughbreds President Terry Finley says that, "Irish Smoke could not be doing any better.  She trains over the Keeneland surface daily, and she really relishes it.  The distance is a question mark, but that is a question for all two-year-olds at this time of year.  She's very mature physically and mentally.  Most babies are about the same right now, so you will see horses win going long at this time of the year that might not do the same next year.  This is a very prestigious race, and we'd love to add a victory like this to Irish Smoke's resume."
