Greg's Lassy romps!!!
Greg's Lassy, who is owned by Don Brooks and managed by West Point Thoroughbreds, returned to the races and made her four-year-old debut a winning one. Breaking from the rail in a NY Bred "a other than" allowance, Greg's Lassy rushed up inside to stalk the early pace. Jockey Alan Garcia managed to angle Greg's Lassy off the rail to launch a bid on the turn for home. She assumed command at the top of the stretch and drew off with authority through the stretch to win by over nine-lengths.
Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said, "You never know how a horse will respond after a long layoff, but this filly ran great. She sat right off the speed then really took over when asked. She overwhelmed the field in the last three-furlongs. There was never really a doubt."
A four-year-old daughter of Millions, Greg's Lassy now has two wins and two runner-up finishes from seven career starts. Her career earnings are now over $74,000.
