Tropic Storm entered in Ack Ack(G3)

June 05, 2008 · By · Share

Tropic Storm will make his graded stakes debut in the $100,000 Ack Ack Handicap(G3) on Saturday at Hollywood Park.  Tropic Storm drew post ten of eleven after an early scratch, and regular rider Aaron Gryder will be back aboard for the race.

Tropic Storm enters the Ack Ack off of an impressive allowance score on May 7th.  In the race, Tropic Storm missed setting a new track record by just over one-fifth of a second.  The race solidified Tropic Storm's status as one of the fastest horses on the west coast.  The Ack Ack is run at the tricky distance of seven and one-half furlongs, the same trip as Tropic Storm's last race.

Trainer Craig Dollase assessed Tropic Storm's chances in the race saying, "Tropic Storm could not be training better.  He's very fast, and he loves to run.  He has answered the bell each time we've asked more of him, and he's faced some very talented runners.  This is his first graded stakes try, but when you look at the company he's been keeping it's fair to say that his mettle has already been tested.  I am anxious to see if we can capture a graded stakes with him on Saturday.

A four-year-old son of Stormy Atlantic, Tropic Storm has four wins, two seconds, and a third from nine career starts.  His career earnings exceed $168,000.

The Ack Ack is race ten on Saturday's Hollywood Park card.  Post time is 8:21 EDT/5:21 PDT.
