Rereadthefootnotes dazzles in debut
You didn't need to read the fine print to see one thing on Sunday, a dominating debut win by Rereadthefootnotes in a NY Bred MSW at Saratoga. Rereadthefootnotes broke sharply and hustled out to contest the early pace. The early fractions were scorching. The quarter-mile went in 22.1, and jockey Alan Garcia eased Rereadthefootnotes back just a bit. Rereadthefootnotes eased back up on the turn and assumed command entering the stretch. He drew off with authority in the upper lane to win by daylight.
Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said, "We knew this colt was quick and athletic. He was very impressive. Alan Garcia did a nice job letting the other speed go. When he gave him his cue he showed a nice turn of foot. It could not have setup better. That was a wonderful race. He cooled out well after the race. We'll look to get him back to the track later this week."
Jockey Alan Garcia said, "My colt was sharp early. We were going very fast. I tried to back off a little bit. When I asked him to go he was there for me. He was very professional after he made the lead. He got a little tired late, but I knew the race was already over."
A two-year-old son of Read The Footnotes, Rereadthefootnotes earned $33,600 for the victory.
