Macho Again draws post five in Travers
Perfection is a subjective concept. It is hard to achieve yet you know it when you see it. In post position draws, perfection cannot be obtained without a healthy dose of luck. However, today we achieved near perfection with an ideal draw in post five of twelve with Macho Again for Saturday's $1,000,000 Grade 1 Travers Stakes. Macho Again is once again being overlooked despite his Jim Dandy victory. He was installed as the fourth choice on the morning-line at 6/1. Pyro, who Macho Again defeated, was made the favorite at 7/2. The race appears to feature a fairly evenly matched group of horses. However, Macho Again enters the race doing as well as he ever has. We know he likes the Saratoga strip, and Julien Leparoux will be back in the irons once again.
West Point Thoroughbreds President Terry Finley commented on the race saying, "This is the summer's biggest race for three-year-olds. We come into it with one of the favorites. We cannot ask for more than that. We'll lead Macho Again over on Saturday with the goal of capturing the midsummer Derby."
Trainer Dallas Stewart said, "This is a wide open race. We got some speed added to the race late which should keep the pace honest. We'll look to sit off the speed and pick them up turning for home. This colt is as game as they come. If he's in front turning for home they're going to have to really come running to get him."
Travers post time is scheduled for 5:45 EDT. The race will be televised live on ESPN.
