WPT Class of 2009 Released

March 04, 2009 · By · Share

Future Stars of Stable Now Available to Public

With current WPT stars Mr. Fantasy and Merus Miami on the Derby trail and Justwhistledixie and Fitz Just Right looking ahead to the Kentucky Oaks, West Point Thoroughbreds has formally announced the class of 2009.

The class consists of four fillies and eight colts and WPT President Terry Finley is extremely pleased with the crop.  "We've got more quality in our class than ever before.  With the sales numbers being down, we were able to purchase better stock at a much lower price then we've had to in year's past.  All in all, I'm very proud to offer this new class to the partners of West Point Thoroughbreds."

Five yearling purchases from 2008 and seven two-year-old purchases from the recently concluded OBS sales make up the class of 2009.  Sires of the class include names like El Corredor, Seattle Fitz, Sky Mesa, and Tapit.

There are numerous ways to learn more about the new class.  The roster is available by clicking here (WPT registration required).  This listing will take you to each horse's individual page, where you are able to see pictures and a detailed description of the horse.  Also available here is pedigree information as well as the horse's trainer, region, and cost.

If video is more your style, check out our YouTube group featuring video of our newest members.  Here you'll not only be able to see the stars of tomorrow up close, you'll also get commentary and thoughts from Terry Finley and members of the WPT team.

WPT is offering a discount if you act quickly on these stars of tomorrow.  Anyone purchasing between now and the running of the 135th Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 2nd will receive 10% off the cost of the horse(s).

Finley believes the newest class has a chance to be special.  "With the quality that we have in these 12 horses, I think we're in a better position this year then we were a year ago at this time, and so far, the class of 2008 has produced some pretty good ones."

It was at this time last year that horses like Mr. Fantasy and Justwhistledixie were being released to the public.  Wouldn't it be nice to say 'I own a piece of a horse with a chance to win the Kenturcky Derby or the Oaks?'  Don't let that opportunity get away.
