Fitz Just Right Out of Oaks

Ankle Injury will prevent Fitzy from Running

After preparing for her entry in the 135th Kentucky Oaks with what was scheduled to be her final official work prior to her start in the Grade 1, Fitz Just Right suffered an injury to her right front ankle and will not make the race.

"It's tough for all of us.  This really is the worst part of our business," said West Point Thoroughbreds President Terry Finley.  "It was just a fluke thing, she's been doing so well over the last month, and then after her breeze this morning, she had some heat in that ankle.  We will always do what's best for our horses, and what's best here is to give her time to heal."

The setback leaves WPT with one entry in the G1 $500,000 race next Friday at Churchill Downs.  Justwhistledixie had a perfect breeze this morning and is all systems go as she looks to extend her winning streak to six straight in her first Grade 1 start.  She'll be ridden by Julien Leparoux, who was aboard for her score in the G2 Bonnie Miss.

In regards to Fitz's injury this morning, Finley continued, "It's obviously extremely disappointing, but she'll be back.  She's a tough filly and we're excited about the rest of her 2009 campaign going forward."
