Where Does Mr. Fantasy Go Next
When and Where will the Graded Stakes Winning Colt Make his Next Start
Following his sensational performance in the Grade 3 Withers on April 25th, everybody had an opinion on where Mr. Fantasy should make his next start. "We heard from a lot of people on that topic, and we wouldn't have it any other way," said WPT President Terry Finley.
Finley said that he, Kiaran McLaughlin, and a few of the horse's owners were weighing a number of options for the three-year-old son of E Dubai's next start. Those choices include the G1 Preakness at Pimlico on May 16th, the G1 Met Mile at Belmont on May 25th, the G2 Woody Stephens at Belmont Park on June 6th, or pointing him towards the Big Apple Triple Crown, which begins with the Mike Lee on June 21st at Belmont Park.
Finley said that while it was tough to take Mr. Fantasy off the Kentucky Derby trail, it was undoubtedly the right decision. "We did what was best for the horse and that's the choice we will always make. A lot of the horses that ran on Saturday (in the Derby) will never be the same. Our horse is still improving and going forward, and we couldn't be any more excited about his future."
"It's a good problem to have," commented Finley on having to make a decision. "We believe that in Mr. Fantasy, we have one of the best three-year-olds in the country."
