Amazed By Grace Wins

September 06, 2009 · By · Share

Hunch bettors do it all the time.  They play names they like or have significance to them.  Amazed By Grace, our three-year-old daughter of Bowman's Band made our hunches a reality as she amazed us with a dominating MSW victory at Charles Town on Sunday.

She sat just behind the dueling pacesetters early then eased out into the clear on the outside.  When given her cue by jockey Gerald Almodovar, she cruised to the front on the turn and drew off to a dominating five-length victory.  The victory was so easy that she was in hand through the final few yards. The final time for the four and one half furlongs was 52.68.

Trainer Lupe Preciado said, "I thought before the race that if she broke okay she would win.  She has a lot of speed when you ask her.  The question is always how far she can go.  The jockey did a great job.  He rode her perfectly.  He got her into a great position and didn't get hooked early.  When he asked her she took off.  The way she ran makes me think that we can possibly look to stretch her out a little bit."

Amazed by Grace earned $21,600 for her maiden victory. She will return to the starting gate carrying the black and gold silks in a few weeks.
