Grey Chatelaine Wins!
Grey Chatelaine ended 2009 in fabulous fashion, with her third career victory on December 31st at Golden Gate Fields. The now four-year-old Forest Camp filly led from gate to wire in the one mile claiming contest. She rated nicely under jockey William Antongeorgi III before being headed by the big favorite after six furlongs. She outkicked the favorite in early stretch, and there was no looking back. She held off a fast closing opponent to cross the finish line first, and to score her second win under Antongeorgi III.
Trainer OJ Jaurequi said, "This filly ran hard. She was able to relax on the lead, and had some left turning for home. I was very happy with the effort. We will run her back in a few weeks."
Jockey William Antongeorgi III said, "My filly broke well and showed good speed, so I let her go to the lead. She relaxed very nicely, even when the favorite came up on our outside. She felt great into the turn, and when I asked her at the top of the stretch, she responded."
Grey Chatelaine had a productive 2009, hitting the board in six of eleven starts. We look forward to a productive 2010 campaign on the northern California circuit.
