Belle Of The Hall Wins Again!
It was a quiet Wednesday afternoon at Belmont Park. A group of us made the trip to Elmont, New York to see our filly, Belle Of The Hall look to make it two in a row. Although we were unable to cash our win tickets for too much money, we had "The Belle of Belmont" yesterday.
Belle Of The Hall broke well and assumed a stalking position behind the leaders. Although wide down the backside, she relaxed in hand for jockey Ramon Dominguez. Midway around the far turn, Ramon asked her to pick it up, and she responded. At the quarter pole, the announcer aptly proclaimed "Belle Of The Hall has swept to the lead." She changed leads early in the stretch, and continue grinding through the lane to score by a decisive 2 ¾ lengths. She stopped the teletimer in 1:23.09 for 7 furlongs.
Trainer Tom Albertrani said, "She ran great. She was a bit wide down the backside but really relaxed nicely. I knew we were in a good spot when Ramon called on her at the quarter pole and she made a big move. She got a little bit tired, but galloped out fine and cooled out well."
Jockey Ramon Dominguez said, "She relaxed well for me down the backside and moved very well. She switched leads so easily in the stretch that I wasn't even sure if she did right away. This was a nice race. She was a little tired galloping out, but she will get a lot of fitness from this race."
Belle Of The Hall earned a strong 89 Beyer. She cooled out well after the race and we are very excited about her future. Look for her to run back in couple weeks.
