Justwhistledixie Retired

June 02, 2010 · By · Share

She gave us many thrills that's for sure. Not many horses win five races in a row including four straight stakes, and two graded stakes. She was the favorite in the Kentucky Oaks future pool and took us from New York to Florida to California.

West Point Thoroughbreds' talented filly Justwhistledixie has been retired and sold for broodmare duty. She was bred to Street Cry, the 2002 Dubai World Cup Winner and sire of champions Street Sense and Zenyatta.

The dark bay daughter of Dixie Union won five of 12 career starts, most notable the Davona Dale (G2) and Bonnie Miss Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park last winter. Prior to those victories, she captured the True Affair and Ruthless Stakes at Aqueduct. She placed in both the Acorn Stakes (G1) and Top Flight Handicap (G2).

She earned nearly $450,000 in her career and will forever hold a place in our hearts. Click here to take a trip down memory lane to see videos we took of Dixie throughout her career.
