Belle Of The Hall Headed to $400,000 Charles Town Oaks
West Point Thoroughbreds' talented three-year-old filly Belle Of The Hall looks to become the Belle Of West Virginia under the lights of Charles Town this Saturday night in the $400,000 Charles Town Oaks. So far this year she has been the Belle of three states: Florida, New York, and Pennsylvania, earning victories at three different venues this year.
Most recently, Belle Of The Hall was third in the Test Stakes (gr. I) on August 7th at Saratoga after a disastrous break. We hope a better break will put her closer to the pace early in the Oaks, and land us in the winner's circle.
Earlier this year, our chestnut filly by Graeme Hall broke her maiden in impressive fashion at Gulfstream Park before romping in an entry level allowance at Belmont Park. In her first stakes appearance, she held off late challengers in the stretch to capture the Jostle Stakes on June 12th at Philadelphia Park. In just four starts, Belle of The Hall has earned over $197,000.
Jockey Ramon Dominguez has been aboard Belle for three of her four victories. Dominguez thinks very highly of our filly and is making the trip to Charles Town, WV after riding a full day of races at Belmont Park.
Trainer Tom Albertrani is very excited about his filly's chances. He says, "This filly has provided us with a thrill this year. She is training well, and I think she is well suited to two turns because of her stalking running style. We loved the fact that this race is restricted to three-year-old fillies, and think we are in a great spot."
Terry Finley, president of West Point Thoroughreds says, "We gave this filly some time to mature late last year because her ankles were bothering her a bit. She has come back bigger and stronger and been a great asset to our roster this year. We are not only excited to see her run on Saturday, but also very excited about what the rest of the year has in store for her."
The Charles Town Oaks is race 10 on Saturday night with a post time of 10:30 pm. Belle Of The Hall drew post 3 of 10, and has been installed the 5/2 morning line favorite.
