Terry's Notes: Breeders' Cup is Coming

October 26, 2010 · By · Share

BREEDERS’ CUP ALMOST HERE

"Ah. The Breeders’ Cup is next week." That sure does have a nice ring to it. The entire racing world will focus its attention on Churchill Downs next Friday and Saturday for the World Championships of horse racing. Horses, jockeys and connections from all over the world will be in to see the best athletes this sport has to offer. Last time Churchill Downs hosted the Breeders’ Cup was in 2006. The event has seen much change since then, and most of it has been for the good.

We plan to run two horses, both with solid chances to perform well. Six year-old Tropic Storm and seven year-old Awesome Gem will carry the black and gold silks in Louisville. Check back to our site daily over the next two weeks as we provide updates on how they are proceeding in preparations. I sure wish we saw more five, six and seven year-old competing in the Breeders’ Cup, and in racing in general.

ZENYATTA ON "60 MINUTES" ON SUNDAY

ZenyattaSpeaking of the Breeders’ Cup, how about Zenyatta? What a horse. 19 for 19, and she’s going to try to beat the boys again next week in the Classic. Win, lose, or draw, I don’t think we will see a horse like her for a long time. On Sunday, October 31st, she will be "60 Minutes" on CBS. I look forward to watching.

Bob Baffert remarked the other day that as much as he wants to win the $5,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Classic, he would not feel bad if he got beat by Zenyatta. I don’t think many of us would. Its hard to imagine the excitement all of us are feeling when they load into the gate for Classic next Saturday.

RACE VIDEOS NOW ON WEST POINT WEBSITE

In case you haven’t seen them yet – we now offer race replay videos for all of our horses. Shortly after each of our horses run you can go to the "Results" page and click on the video tab to view the race.

Very cool stuff . You can also forward the races to friends and associates without them having to login.
