Belle of the Hall Contests Gazelle Stakes (G1)
West Point Thoroughbreds’ talented three-year-old filly Belle of the Hall attempts to capture her first Grade 1 event on Saturday in the $250,000 Gazelle Stakes (gr. I) at Aqueduct. a Earlier this year, our chestnut daughter of Graeme Hall won three straight races, including the $200,000 Jostle Stakes at Philadelphia Park, before running a very solid third in the prestigious Grade 1 Test at Saratoga. In her most recent effort, she beat a very solid group of three-year-old fillies in the Catinca Stakes at Belmont Park.
In preparation for Saturday’s race, Belle of the Hall worked a bullet five furlongs in 1:01.75 on Monday morning at Belmont Park. Watch the work below.
Trainer Tom Albertrani says, "Monday’s work was one of her best ever. She’s never been the fastest work horse, but she is on our toes and feeling great going into this race. In her only try against two turns in the Charles Town Oaks, she didn’t run very well, but I think we can put a line through that one. With her stalking running style, I think she will handled the stretch out just fine."
Terry Finley, president of West Point Thoroughbreds says, "We considered shipping out to California for the La Brea, but figured we would ship down the Belt Parkway instead of across the country. This is a solid group of fillies, but if our horse gets the two turns, which I think she will, we expect to be right there. We love how she has been training since her win in the Catinca Stakes on October 27th, and are not only very excited about this race, but also about her four-year-old campaign.
Belle Of The Hall has four wins from six career starts and earning over $243,200. The Gazelle is race 8 on a stellar Aqueduct card on Saturday. We drew post 2 of 8 with David Cohen aboard for the 1/8 mile contest.
Best of luck to Belle and her Partners! We hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
