WPT Purchases Curlin/Distorted Humor Fillies

September 12, 2011 · By Erin Birkenhauer · Share

We came into Lexington, KY this September looking for prospects to reach the Kentucky Oaks in 2013. We think we got 'em. Take a look at hip #127, an absolutely stunning Curlin filly, and hip #183, a Distorted Humor filly from a great family.

"We came to Keeneland this year looking for top fillies with deep pedigrees,"  said Terry Finley. "Both of these fillies are outstanding physicals. Curlin is a young stallion who was an awesome racehorse- the future looks bright for him. Distorted Humor is a proven stallion. Our filly has a deep female family and is built like a colt. This is what we love to see. This year we've started using heart scans in our selection process. Both of these fillies have superior cardiovascular systems and vetted perfectly. They are top, top prospects."

Like what you see? Give Terry a call at (609)-636-7204. We'd love to get you involved with these two lovely ladies. More information to come tomorrow, including additional photos and videos.

Pedigree Expert John Sparkman on both fillies:

Curlin Filly:

"From the first crop of Curlin, she is inbred 3x3 to Mr. Prospector for a 4.00% inbreeding coefficient, a positive for a broodmare. The dam was a good SW and G3 placed, and she's out of a half sister to top sire Street Cry, and to the dam of top sire Shamardal, so it's a family with real commercial potential. Good sires keep a family's name in the news."

Distorted Humor Filly:

"She's by a great sire out of a really outstanding broodmare, from one of the very best families in the stud book—and she's beautiful to boot. Half-sister to 2 GSWs, dam half sister to 5 Sws, 2 G1 winners and tracing to the great Phipps/Jacobs family of Searching. It's just a great family."
