WPT Active at Keeneland 2YO Sale

War Chant - Royal G G colt breezing before the sale

April 13, 2013 · By Erin Birkenhauer · Share

West Point Thoroughbreds horse racing partnership was active at the 2013 Keeneland 2-Year-Old in Training Sale, purchasing three colts with tremendous potential. People have enthusiastically jumped in on these horses and two of them sold out in just three days.

We’re off to the OBS April 2-Year-Old Sale in Ocala next week. Click here to find out how you can watch the sale live April 22-25.

The Lemon Drop Kid colt will join the barn of Kentucky Derby and Dubai World Cup winning trainer H. Graham Motion. There’s quite a bit of stamina influence in his pedigree -- Lemon Drop Kid won eight races past a mile, including the 1999 Belmont Stakes (G1). We bought multiple grade 1 winner Dream Rush from the same consignor, Nick deMeric.

Tiznowforamerica is this Tiznow colt’s name. Have you ever watch Tiznow’s thrilling victory in the 2011 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) shortly after 9/11?

We’re patriotic and proud, and were thrilled when the name Tiznowforamerica was approved by the Jockey Club. Tiznow was a champion racehorse and has been very influential on the breeding side as well, siring horses like Colonel John, Tizway, Folklore, and Well Armed. This colt will head to Tom Albertrani, trainer of WPT’s world record holder Twilight Eclipse.

Bold Charger, our new War Chant colt will join the barn of Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott. He was the smoothest mover we saw at the Keeneland Sale, and has the looks and pedigree of a quality individual.

War Chant, a son of the highly influential sire Danzig out of multiple graded stakes winner Hollywood Wildcat, was a top class racehorse. He broke his maiden at two before before going on to win graded stakes around two turns on both dirt and turf. A win in the 2000 Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) was the highlight of his career.
