Twilight Eclipse Looks to Stamp Ticket to Keeneland

September 25, 2015 · By Erin Birkenhauer · Share

Best of luck to Twilight Eclipse as he looks to stamp his ticket to Kentucky for the Breeders’ Cup in Saturday’s $600,000 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic (G1) at Belmont Park.

The 6-year-old gelding notched his well-deserved first grade one win in the Man O’War Stakes at Belmont on May 9. He then followed the win with a very good third place finish in the United Nations (G1) at Monmouth on July 5 with a less than ideal trip and another third behind Flintshire in the Sword Dancer (G1) at Saratoga.

“He got his long overdue grade one win over this course earlier this year and is training as good as ever,” said WPT Chief Operating Officer Tom Bellhouse.Joel Rosario is riding him for the first time since October of his three-year-old year and the two of them are a great match. Twilight ran a tremendous third in the Breeders’ Cup last year, and we’re excited about heading to Keeneland. He just shows up every single time."

The Hirsch is race 10 on Belmont’s “Super Saturday” card with a 6:01 ET post time. Twilight Eclipse breaks from post four in the field of seven.
