Purchased at Cape Premier Yearling Sale in Cape Town, South Africa- January 2012.
WPT is excited about the opportunity to race internationally, expanding into a new market with horses known for soundness, durability, and success. This colt is packaged with the Jay Peg colt.
This colt’s sire, Var, was a champion sprinter in Europe.
His half brother is graded stakes placed, and his dam a multiple winner. Second dam is a graded stakes winner.
Grandson of Storm Cat and Danzig.
He’ll be trained by top South African conditioner Dean Kannemeyer. If he excels in South Africa, he could come to the United States as a four-year-old.
- Terry on Var colt, “This is a stout colt with a great mind. He didn’t turn a hair at the sale and is very professional. He’s got some American influence in his pedigree, but the majority of runners in the family have been overseas. His pedigree indicates he’ll be a sprinter, but with his body type, I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if he stretches out in distance. Kip Elser and I really liked this one.”
