First Samurai is the fastest and most precocious American son of emerging sire of sires Giant's Causeway. Winner of the Champagne(G1) and Hopeful(G1) at two, First Samurai's first crop made him second leading freshman sire in September.
First Samurai was the best colt from Giant's Causway's first American crop, and the best colt from that great sire's single European crop, champion Shamardal, is the leading freshman sire in England this year and has already sired an Oaks winner in Australia. First Samurai may well follow in his footsteps.
There weren't many yearlings by First Samurai in September with as good a pedigree as this filly. Her dam, Shop Again, by Wild Again, was a stakes winner, and she is half sister to Grade 1 winner Miss Shop and to stakes winner Bought in Dixie. Both of those horses are by Northern Dancer line stallions, just like First Samurai.
This handsome filly comes from one of the very best Phipps families, with top racehorses and sires like Motivator, Wavering Monarch, Polish Precedent, and Mining in her immediate family, so she will have plenty of residual value once her racing career is over.
