We were lucky to be in the right place at the right time on this gelding. The breeder was not in position to continue training him and we were able to step in quickly and get a very green but athletic, sound and good-boned horse by a highly promising young sire. He vetted really, really well with a big, clean airway. We can't wait to get him to the racetrack.
His sire, Offlee Wild surprised almost everyone by winning leading freshman sire honors in 2009, but it really shouldn't have been a surprise. Offlee Wild was an Offlee good racehorse, winning graded stakes at three, four and five, culminating with a brilliant win in the Suburban Handicap(G1). Besides that, Offlee Wild looks a lot like his great sire, Wild Again, and is out of a half sister, by the great sire Alydar, to the great sire Dynaformer. That's plenty of sire blood for any stallion's pedigree.
Champion two-year-old filly She Be Wild is not the only good one in his first crop. He has another good stakes winner in Heavenville and four stakes-placed horses, plus our own very promising colt Middle of the Nite.
All of the previous foals out of this colt's dam are winners, and she is a half sister to stakes winner Ghoastly Prize and stakes-placed Mondelo. His second dam, Athena's Prize, is half sister to stakes winner Paradise Found and Grade 1-placed stakes-producer Fondly Remembered. The third dam, the excellent stakes winner Fondre, by Key to the Mint, was bred by the Asbury family and comes from the wonderful family of their Kentucky Derby winner Determine, as well as Equipoise and Seabiscuit.
