We think Flatter is a seriously underrated sire, and we've been encouraged by how well his son Flat Bold has done for us. He almost got it done in some stakes races last year.
Flatter was a high-class son of A.P. Indy who won four of six starts but didn't get the chance to show just how good he could be. He ran a very good third in the Washington Park Handicap(G2) in his final start, but was on his way to better things. Flatter is a full brother to multiple Grade 2 winner Congrats, a three-quarter brother to graded winner Yell, and out of a three quarter sister to graded winner and leading Argentine sire Roar.
Flatter's opportunities were limited when he first went to stud at Claiborne, but he's made the most of them, with 11 stakes winners from his first two crops, led by graded winners Single Solution and Jack o' Lantern and the fast sprinter Pashito the Che. A.P. Indy is a great sire of sires, and Flatter is bred just like Pulpit, so there are more good ones to come, and we think this might be one of them.
This colt's dam, Slammin' Lil, by Grand Slam, was a talented runner, earning $91,226 and placing in the Valdale Stakes. She's already shown she can produce winners. Her second dam is a stakes winner from the very good family of the top two-year-olds Forum and Good Counsel.
