A former Bill Mott assistant, Ralph Nicks joined the West Point Thoroughbreds trainer roster in early 2016. Nicks keeps a string of horses in Florida all year long and also races quite a bit in the New York and Kentucky circuits.
Nicks was a jockey for a brief time before going to work for his father, trainer Morris Nicks. During his 14 years with Bill Mott, he worked with grade one winners Cigar, Fraise, Ajina, and Escena. He went out on his own in 2004 and has trained grade one winner Aubby K and graded stakes winners Cool Conductor and El Caballo amongst others.
The biggest win of Ralph's career came when Caledonia Road won the 2017 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).
