After Debut Win, A Longlongtimeago Goes for Stakes Assignment / Thursday, March 12, 2020

Along in time in a sharp debut victory, A Longlongtimeago tackles stakes competition in his second career start Sunday in the $100,000 Damon Runyon for New York-breds at Aqueduct.

The Maclean’s Music colt prevailed by a half-length going six furlongs on January 21 in his unveiling for trainer Jorge Abreu. Eric Cancel picks up the mount for Sunday, along with a familiar script: Cancel guided Empire Line to victory in the 2018 Damon Runyon for West Point Thoroughbreds and partners, also off a debut win.

A Longlongtimeago and Cancel will begin from the rail in a field of nine.

“I think this is his trip, more so than three-quarters,” Abreu said.
