Chasing Moonlight Scores at the SPA / Sunday, July 29, 2012

Chasing Moonlight scored by four in Saturday’s nightcap at Saratoga. In a five and one half furlong event washed off the turf and moved to the sloppy main track, he was very wide down the backside before making a strong move on the turn and drawing off down the lane.

Trainer Tom Albertrani and jockey Rajiv Maragh were confident in the paddock about this horse’s chances. He’d run two credible races off the layoff, and was the one to beat on paper in a field reduced to nine.

The WPT team watched the race at our traditional location, the “big screen” just inside the Saratoga clubhouse. Cheers erupted on the turn when the big bay carrying the number 15 took command on the turn and looked strong down the stretch.

We headed over to Siro’s with some Partners after the race to celebrate the first win of the meet.

“It’s always good to get off the duck,” said Terry Finley. “You can’t win two if you don’t win one.”
