California-bred China Prince makes his debut for West Point Thoroughbreds in Saturday’s $300,000 California Breeders Champion Stakes at Santa Anita.

Purchased privately by Terry Finley after posting a 76 Beyer in his maiden win on December 9 at Golden Gate Fields, China Prince was syndicated in just days.

Shipped to Craig Dollase at Hollywood Park after being purchased, China Prince has blossomed. He worked a sharp six furlongs in 1.13:60 last week with jockey Joe Talamo aboard as a final prep for his stakes debut.

“My team and China Prince’s Partners are very excited,” said Terry Finley. “This is a horse who seems to have all the parts; natural ability, size, tactical speed, and a good mind. He improved in every one of his races, and we think we found a diamond in the rough.”

The California Breeders Champion Stakes is part of the lucrative Golden State series and restricted to statebreds.

Post time for the 7th race on Saturday is 3:00 PT/6:00 ET. China Prince breaks from post 7 under Talamo.
