Deputy Strike ran a solid third in the Sycamore Breeders’ Cup(G3) at Keeneland  on October 4th.  Breaking from the rail, Deputy Strike got off to a good start sitting sixth after the first quarter-mile.  Jockey Richard Migliore had a tight hold of Deputy Strike pulling him toward the back of the pack where he likes to settle.  The pace in the mile and a half race was moderate for the distance with the first half-mile going in 50.2.  Deputy Strike was almost seven lengths back at this point and still under very tight restraint.  The pace slowed a bit with six furlongs going in 1:15.4.  The field began to pick up the tempo notably as the mile went in 1:39.4.  With a half-mile to run, Deputy Strike was eighth almost nine lengths behind the leader.  Richard Migliore began moving Deputy Strike forward picking off horses on the outside.  Deputy Strike advanced up to third straightening away in the lane and ran on gamely but could not get past the winner.  Deputy Strike finished third beaten just over two lengths for the win and collected $16,920 for the effort.
