He joined trainer Guadalupe Preciado’s barn earlier this year and placed in three claiming races before finding the winner’s circle in the 1 1/16 mile turf race.

The 5-year-old Sir Shackleton gelding competed in the 2011 Queen’s Plate at Woodbine before being sidelined for almost a year because of a hock injury.

“Enduring Star has been a hard luck horse the past few years,” said WPT president Terry Finley. He was plagued by minor setbacks that prevented him from developing into a stakes horse. I was a bit skeptical when Lupe (Preciado) brought up this allowance since Enduring Star has been competing in claiming races, but I trusted him when he told me this horse was training stronger than he ever has since arriving at Parx in the spring. His last two races were run at a mile and 70 yards, and he was second both times. We knew he’d appreciate the added distance.”

Enduring Star will point for a second level allowance on the turf in a few weeks.
