Enduring Star Wins, On Target For Queen’s Plate / Monday, April 25, 2011

It was a nail biter, but Enduring Star endured and broke his maiden on Saturday at Woodbine in his quest for the Queen’s Plate. Under jockey Eurico Da Silva, our Canadian bred son of Sir Shackleton broke well and rated off the pace down the backside in the 1 1/16 mile Polytrack event. He found himself on the lead at the top of the lane, and never looked back. He was confidently handled by Da Silva and held off a late challenge from Jo Jo’s Mojo to score by a nose.

We expected him to make one sweeping move to blow by the field in the final 1/8th, but a win is a win. An impressive one nonethless.

Congratulations to Enduring Star’s Partners. It’s an exciting time. He earned $42,184 (gotta love the purses at Woodbine) and came out of the race in great shape. We are targeting the $150,000 Plate Trial Stakes going 1 â…› miles on the Polytrack on Sunday, June 5th at Woodbine and it will serve as a final prep for the $1,000,000 Queen’s Plate Stakes going 1 ¼  miles on the Polytrack Sunday, June 26th at Woodbine. The Queen’s Plate is the most prestigious event in Canadian racing.

Trainer Mark Casse said, "I've always liked this colt. He's got a nice turn of foot and we're excited about him. I've never won the Queen's Plate, and I've got a huge chance to do so with Enduring Star."

Terry Finley said, "This horse is so athletic. We gave him some time to develop over the winter after he put in some credible efforts at Woodbine late last year, and it's really helped him. He ran a bang up race at Gulfstream that set him up perfectly to break his maiden. All systems go for the Queen's Plate."
