Later in the day, Freedom Child turned heads with a sharp five length victory in a 1 â…› mile maiden special weight for 3-year-olds. Breaking from post eight, Freedom Child set the pace, drew away on the final turn, and remained well clear under Elvis Trujillo. Our flashy chestnut son of Malibu Moon earned an 83 Beyer Speed Figure.

“It’s very tough to win from an outside post going two turns at Gulfstream,” said trainer Tom Albertrani. “I’ve always been very high on this horse — he’s really developed the past few months. There’s still room for improvement here as he’s still green and learning.”

“Freedom Child has been competitive against some of the top three-year-olds this year, including Orb and Revolutionary,” said WPT president Terry Finley. “Tom (Albertrani) gave him some time to grow up after his second start once he shipped down to Florida, and it’s paid off. We think he could be something special.”
