West Pont Thoroughbreds president Terry Finley named Grip Hands in honor of one of his West Point classmates and friends Colonel John McHugh who was killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan in May 2010. At West Point, Grip Hands is a term used when there's a fallen member of the "long grey line".
