“This is a nice colt who trains like he’ll go on to be a solid runner, and getting his first win like this was another step in the right direction,” trainer Tom Albertrani said. “He really dug down there at the end after contesting the issue all through the early part of the race.”

This six-furlong maiden special weight was the second career start for our 2-year-old son of Half Ours, a gray colt out of the Dixie Union mare Dixie Lyrics. He was the runner-up in his debut at Belmont on Oct. 23, surprising many at odds of 16-1.

“This horse tries hard every time,” Lezcano reported. “For such a young horse, he’s so professional and he gets better every time.”

Our New York-bred runner will stay in his home state for the winter in anticipation of an influx of VLT funding to the purse structure there.  Look for him to face winners in a few weeks.
