This fast and precocious-looking filly is by Army Mule, a G1 Carter Handicap winner known for his raw speed and dominance on the racetrack. Army Mule has quickly made a name for himself at stud, producing graded stakes winners like One in Vermillion (G1) and Danse Macabre (G3). One of his sons sold for nearly a million dollars on the first day of the OBS March Sale.
The new filly’s dam, Sophia Mia (by Pioneerof the Nile) produced G1-winning sprinter Speed Boat Beach, who captured the Malibu S. [G1] and set a track record at Del Mar for 5 ½ furlongs.
The second dam, Amie’s Dini (Bandini), was a multiple graded stakes performer, finishing second in the Fantasy S. [G2] and third in the Delaware Oaks [G2].
The newcomer is a beautiful physical specimen with strength and balance that you rarely see in 2-year-old fillies. The filly worked an eighth of a mile in 10 flat with an above average stride length and exceptional gallop out past the wire.
“She was my star filly for day three of the sale,” said bloodstock agent David Ingordo. “She sold early and we were bound and determined to get her into Cherie’s stable. We are very excited about her — she’s the type who should be running in those early two-year-old races this summer. A total babe.”
The filly will be trained by Cherie DeVaux, whose barn has really taken off with young, quality horses acquired by David Ingordo, her husband and West Point’s bloodstock adviser. Cherie trains grade one winner Vahva for WPT as well as stakes competitors Northern Invader and Reagan’s Wit.
Price includes all acquisition costs and all training, veterinary, and insurance expenses until January 1, 2026.
