Blame Colt

    • Blame only horse to beat Zenyatta

    • Classic two turn colt for Dallas Stewart

    • Same broodmare sire as Olympiad

On the hunt for horses in the mold of what he does best—making a splash in big races going two turns on the dirt—Dallas Stewart was drawn to this hearty colt by Blame, who has gone on to a successful stallion career after forever carving his place in the history books for handing the great Zenyatta her only loss in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

The colt had received good marks from David Ingordo and his team for the way he breezed a quarter-mile in 21 .3 and galloped out strongly into a headwind in the OBS training preview. Once Dallas gave his endorsement, the West Point buying team took another look at the colt back at the barn and came away impressed.

“Everyone was smitten with him,” West Point’s Jeff Lifson said. “Look at the forearm, shoulder, and hip and how he moves through himself; absolutely perfect. Blame it on his good looks.”

Dallas said, “He sold on the last day so we got to look at him a lot and kept thinking about him, and there was just a lot to like. He has quite a bit of substance to him and the body matches the pedigree, he looks like and the page says he should be two turns on the dirt. To me, that’s what I’m looking for.”

The colt comes from an A+ nick pairing Blame with a Medaglia d’Oro mare from a deep family of stakes performers in two-turn dirt races for Sheikh Mohammed’s Godolphin Racing.

Price includes all acquisition costs and all training, veterinary, and insurance expenses until January 1, 2024.
