    • Pretty filly by hot young son of Speightstown

    • Out of stakes performing Malibu Moon mare

    • Trained by Cherie DeVaux

This striking chestnut filly is from the first crop of Charlatan, a brilliant son of Speightstown who captured the G1 Runhappy Malibu S. and G1 Arkansas Derby, earning over $4 million. Charlatan was one of the most naturally gifted racehorses of his generation, and his sire Speightstown has been a leading influence of speed and class, producing over 140 black-type winners.

A chestnut like this filly, Charlatan was a dominant talent, winning his first four starts by a combined 26 lengths. His lone defeat was a second-place finish in the world’s richest race, the Saudi Cup (G1).

Her dam, Chubby Star (by Malibu Moon), was a stakes performer in her own right, finishing 2nd in the James W. Murphy Stakes [L] at Pimlico on Preakness day. Malibu Moon, a proven sire of champions, has long been a key ingredient in classic-distance pedigrees, and this filly benefits from his influence. Malibu Moon is the broodmare sire of Breeders’ Cup Classic champ Sierra Leone.

The second dam, Salsa Star (by Giant’s Causeway), adds another layer of quality. She was stakes-placed in England before producing Blamed, a G3-winning filly with earnings over $600,000, capturing the Comely S. [G3], Royal Delta S. [G3], and the Sunland Park Oaks [L].

The combination of Charlatan’s brilliance, Malibu Moon’s versatility, and Giant’s Causeway’s class makes her a high-upside prospect with the potential for residual value.

She breezed a sharp eighth of a mile in 10.1 seconds and has an above-average stride length and beautiful, fluid action.

The filly was purchased Randy Miles, one of the most well respected 2-year-old consignors. West Point purchased grade one winner Carson’s Run and stakes winner Seven Trumpets from Miles’ consignment.

The filly will be trained by Cherie DeVaux, whose barn has really taken off with young, quality horses acquired by David Ingordo, her husband and West Point’s bloodstock adviser. Cherie trains grade one winner Vahva for WPT as well as stakes competitors Northern Invader and Reagan’s Wit.

Price includes all acquisition costs and all training, veterinary, and insurance expenses until January 1, 2026.
