Beautiful Filly by Red-Hot Sire

    • ‘Alpha’ filly from first crop of red-hot sire

    • Christophe Clement loved athletic, leggy filly

    • Came from consignment that was the place to shop on Wednesday

A beautiful, captivating filly with the right sire at Keeneland September, where the City of Lights were red-hot commodities across a wide range of top buyers. Coolmore, Mike Repole, Mandy Pope, Lane’s End, all entrenched at the top of the Thoroughbred market, converged to battle for City of Light’s yearlings, a rare level of esteem for a young sire.

Christophe Clement felt the same way and was eager to put together a group including West Point, Cheri Manning, and Rob Masiello to bid in this lovely bay filly.

“She is the alpha,” West Point’s Jason Blewitt noted back at the barn at the consignment of Stonehaven Steadings, which had a banner Wednesday at Keeneland, selling four of the 25 hips, including this filly.

The new filly’s dam side traces back to a heady Argentine family. The dam Canny was a stakes runner, and her full brother was a Graded stakes winner in New York.

Price includes all acquisition costs and all training, veterinary, and insurance expenses until January 1, 2023.

Trainer: Christophe Clement

  • A leading US trainer for over 25 years, Christophe has acquired a reputation for meticulous attention to detail. He intentionally limits the size of his stable to a number that can be kept in just two locations at any point in time.
  • Top runners include Champion 2-time Eclipse Award winner, Gio Ponti, 4-time G1 winner, Tonalist and WPT grade one horses Decorated Invader and Best Performance.
  • Christophe Clement has been nominated for the U.S. Hall of Fame, and hopefully before long should take his place there, for he is a credit to the sport, a man of unquestionable integrity for whom his honesty and proficiency, and skill as a trainer are a matter of personal pride.

I love the filly and I am so happy that West Point, Rob Masiello, and Cheri Manning were able to partner and get her bought.
