    • Turned Heads in OBS Training Preview with 75 Breeze Fig

    • Stride Length 2.5 Feet Above Average

    • Already with Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen at Keeneland

A year ago at the OBS March sale, West Point found a reasonably-priced gem in Jaxon Traveler, who would go on to be an undefeated 2-year-old and Maryland-bred champion for Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen. This March we were tickled to acquire another "Steve Asmussen type," this time an Oklahoma-bred but with the world seemingly in front of him based on the impression he made in Ocala. The big, strong son of Dramedy covered an eighth of a mile in 10 flat with an elastic stride that looked even better through the measurements of our stride analyst: his stride length was a whopping 2 1/2 feet above average for the training preview. He also earned a 75 BreezeFig, one of the best of the day. Our bloodstock agent David Ingordo has been observing the colt regularly since the Keeneland September yearling sale. "He's done nothing but improve," David said. "His title in our draft should be 'Athlete.' I liked his stride, how he did his work, very much. He is out of a tough, hard-knocking mare, and from what I have seen I really think he could run anywhere. "It's the right horse for someone like Steve with his program," David said. "He can assess the horse and place him appropriately, since Steve runs in so many places, including Oklahoma, and that state-bred program is nothing to sneeze at. It's nice to have that in our back pocket for him." The colt shipped directly to Steve’s barn at Keeneland. Dramedy was a Grade 2 winner at Keeneland for Oklahoma owner John James, who stood Dramedy as a stallion and bred this colt. James died in 2019, shortly after the colt was born. Last year, Dramedy was represented by Canadian champion Mighty Heart, who captured two legs of the Canadian Triple Crown, including a 7-length romp in the $1-million Queen's Plate. Price includes all acquisition costs and all training, veterinary, and insurance expenses until January 1, 2022.

Trainer: Steve Asmussen

  • Two-time Eclipse Award winner for leading trainer and was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2016.

He’s done nothing but improve, is a total athlete, and is a perfect fit for Steve. I liked his stride, how he did his work, very much. He is out of a tough, hard-knocking mare, and from what I have seen I really think he could run anywhere.
