Strong Colt Raised at Legendary Stone Farm
Late on the first weekend of Keeneland September, we swooped in to grab Hip 1933, a beautiful dark bay son of Frosted from an outstanding female family.
Built like an older horse with a strong hip, great bone and a correct, rangy walk, Hip 1933 was raised at an outstanding nursery in Stone Farm and features plenty of class on the dam side.
His dam Super Espresso, by the legendary sire of race fillies and broodmares Medaglia d’Oro, was a $1.1 million purchase by Bobby Flay at Keeneland September. A Grade III winner on the track, she also placed in multiple Grade I’s and is a half-sister to multiple Group-winning King of Rome.
Second dam Amizette, by another strong broodmare sire influence in Forty Niner, sold for $1.1 million at Keeneland November and is out of the terrific foundation mare Courtly Dee. Named Broodmare of the Year in 1983, Courtly Dee produced a remarkable eight stakes winners, five of them graded, headlined by millionaire and champion 2-year-old filly Althea and the brilliant Grade I-winning 2-year-old Ketoh.
Syndication price includes all veterinary, training, acquisition, and legal costs until January 1, 2025.
