Our sales veterinarian Dr. Keith Latson summed it up well in his presale notes: “This is the most ambitious walk I’ve ever seen. He is a machine.”
West Point partnered with Albaugh Family Stables to secure this handsome son of a Breeders’ Cup winner for trainer Dale Romans.
He gets his grey coloring from his dam sire — the breed-shaping, beloved phenom racehorse Holy Bull.
Dale Romans said, “He was one of my top three favorite horses between book 1 and 2 of the Keeneland Sale. He’s not too big, is very balanced, and walks like a cat. This is a can’t-miss type horse in my book.”
Good Magic’s first foals are 2-year-olds of 2022 and he is certainly making his mark with more than a dozen winners, topped off by the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes winner Blazing Sevens. A son of Curlin, Good Magic himself was the Champion 2-Year-Old of 2017 after winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1). He then went on to win the Blue Grass Stakes (G2), finish second in the Kentucky Derby (G1), and then win the Haskell (G1).
Price includes all acquisition costs and all training, veterinary, and insurance expenses until January 1, 2024.
